As part of the Personal Development Programme, students at The Pride Academy are enjoying a new way to stay active and try something different: Paddle Tennis. This exciting addition to the curriculum promotes healthy, active lifestyles while offering students the chance to develop new skills, confidence, and teamwork.

Paddle Tennis is a fast-paced, engaging sport that combines elements of traditional tennis and squash. Played on a smaller court with solid paddles and a slightly slower ball, it’s perfect for students of all ages and abilities. The game encourages hand-eye coordination, strategic thinking, and physical fitness, while remaining accessible and fun for beginners.

During sessions, students learn the rules of the game, practice serving, volleying, and rallying, and take part in mini-matches. The smaller court and team-based format help build confidence, communication, and sportsmanship, giving students an immediate sense of achievement as they master new techniques.

Teachers supporting stated “It’s not just about physical activity,” said one staff member. “Students develop resilience, focus, and cooperation. They’re learning to try new things, celebrate successes, and support one another”

Students themselves have enjoyed the experience, commenting on how fun, fast, and engaging the sessions are. Many are excited to continue improving their skills and exploring other activities within the Personal Development Programme, which aims to provide enriching experiences and promote lifelong healthy habits.

By introducing Paddle Tennis, Pride Academy continues to offer students new opportunities to stay active, build confidence, and embrace challenges, reinforcing the school’s commitment to personal growth and wellbeing.
